This award is presented to members of the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research Editorial Board in recognition of their service to the association.
The Editor-In-Chief selects the recipient(s) of the JSCR Editorial Excellence Award annually in April-May from members of the JSCR Editorial Board based on their overall contribution to the review and editorial process over the past year. Recipients may only be awarded this award once.
Awardee Notification
1. The JSCR Editor-In-Chief will notify NSCA Headquarters and the Awards and Honors Committee Chair of the selected recipient.
2. The Awards and Honors Committee Chair will notify the NSCA Board of Directors of the recipient.
3. The NSCA Headquarters will notify the recipient of the award, send regret notifications, create a Press Release announcement of the winner, and verify attendance at the National Conference awards banquet.
If there are no qualifying nominees, the award will not be given.
February – JSCR Editor-In-Chief decides the winner and will submit the winners name to the National Office.
March – notifications to nominees will be sent by the National Office and press announcements will be coordinated.
July – Award conferred at the National Conference Awards Banquet.
Dr. Pablo Costa is a Professor at California State University, Fullerton. He earned his PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Oklahoma and his Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Costa’s primary research interests include non-invasive assessment of neuromuscular function and the physiological effects of exercise on performance, health, and fitness. His research encompasses resistance training, sports nutrition, body composition, injury risk, flexibility, balance, hypertension, hypotension, type I and II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, acceleration, and rate of force development. He has authored or co-authored over 250 research articles, book chapters, conference presentations, and abstracts. Currently, Dr. Costa serves as a Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research (JSCR). He is also a former Chair of the NSCA Research Committee and serves as a reviewer for over 50 scientific journals.
Dr. Brandon Roberts is a Physiologist in the Experimental Therapeutics Division at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. His primary mission is to optimize readiness by developing solutions to military-relevant health threats. Dr. Roberts’ expertise spans musculoskeletal physiology, exercise science, nutrition, and pharmaceutical interventions.
