The NSCA Foundations Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The NSCA Foundation recognizes that promoting intellectual diversity, equity, and inclusion is about actively addressing historical and organizational concerns to ensure that individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives have equitable opportunities for growth and success in the field of strength and conditioning. We strive to create an inclusive community where barriers are removed, ideas are shared, challenged, and expanded upon providing equitable access to opportunities. We recognize that the strength and conditioning field benefits from a rich tapestry of insights and experiences. By collaborating with practitioners, researchers, and students, each bringing their unique knowledge and perspectives, we can truly advance our understanding of human performance, athletic development, and the diverse range of science behind it.

To accomplish this mission, we pledge to:

Diverse Leadership and Representation: Strive for diversity in our leadership to ensure that a broad range of perspectives shapes the direction and priorities of the NSCA Foundation.

Promote Inclusivity: Actively seek out, encourage, and affirm the participation of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including different abilities, genders, sexual orientations, religions, ethnicities, cultures, and professional and educational experiences.

Support Student Initiatives: Provide resources and opportunities for students pursuing careers in strength and conditioning, recognizing that they represent the future of our field.

Support Coaching Advancement: Support coaching advancement and pledge opportunities emphasizing continuing education and professional growth.

Support Young Coaches: Support young professional coaches through our Assistantship program that connects experienced coaches with those earlier in their careers, fostering knowledge exchange, guidance, and support.

Support Members of the Military: Empower active and retired military personnel to enhance their knowledge and skills in strength and conditioning by providing resources and opportunities to pursue their CSCS certification.

Support Personal Trainers: Provide comprehensive support to enable personal trainers to become certified and enhance their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Encourage Research: Promote and fund research initiatives that explore new dimensions of strength and conditioning, inviting researchers to explore innovative ideas and approaches.

Offer Equipment Grants: Actively seek partnerships and funding opportunities to provide high schools and colleges with state-of-the-art strength and conditioning equipment, enabling coaches to develop athletes.

Professional Development: Offer educational programs and scholarships to practitioners, researchers, and students to help them continuously improve their skills and knowledge.

Amplify Voices: Provide a platform for practitioners, researchers, and students to share their research findings, best practices, and unique perspectives through publications, presentations, social media, and NSCA TV.

In embracing intellectual diversity, the National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation aspires to enhance the depth and breadth of knowledge in strength and conditioning, ultimately benefiting the coaches, athletes, and individuals who rely on our expertise for their physical development and well-being.

Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is not just a standalone statement but is interwoven throughout our initiatives. From supporting students and young coaches to providing resources for military personnel and personal trainers, we will ensure that the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the forefront.

The National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation is advancing the field of strength and conditioning by creating a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable future. Together, we can build a stronger, more collaborative field of strength and conditioning.
