NSCA’s Rocky Mountain Region

NSCA has a network of volunteer leaders who direct NSCA’s efforts at the state level. NSCA’s Rocky Mountain Regional Coordinator provides oversight and training to local state directors. Regional Coordinator: Kristin Heumann, PhD, CSCS

Kristin Heumann is a Professor and Assistant Department Head for the Department of Kinesiology at Colorado Mesa University (CMU) in Grand Junction, CO, where she has been teaching since 2011. She also serves as the Program Director for the Education Recognition Program for the Certified Strength and Conditioning program at CMU. Nationally, Heumann serveson the NSCA Women's Committee.  Heumann earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Fitness Management from Northwestern College. From Arizona State University, she earned both her Master’s degree in Exercise and Wellness, and her PhD in Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Wellness. Her areas of interest are in sport performance, body composition, and changes in health outcomes over time.

Joseph Sudimack is the Curriculum Manager at Carrington College where he assists with resource allocation, curriculum development and accreditation for certificate and degree programs. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Arizona State University and a Master’s degree in Health Science with an emphasis in Sports Performance from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. His areas of interest include long term athletic development, exercise psychology and flexibility.

Colorado

Spencer Bowersmith is the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Regis University in Denver, CO, where he has been since 2021. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training from California State University, East Bay in 2012 and his Master's degree in Exercise Physiology from San Jose State University in 2017. He has been a member of the NSCA since 2013. His areas of interest are sports performance, sports science, and advocating for increasing performance resources for NCAA DII student-athletes.

Arthur Tolhurst is currently an Assistant Sports Performance Coach for Olympic Sports at the University of Wyoming. He is in charge of Swimming and Diving, and Tennis. His interests include sports science, force plate applications, and exercise at altitude.
