CASCE ANNOUNCES NEW ROUND OF ACCREDITED STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

July 27, 2023

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Nearly one year ago, the Council on Accreditation of Strength and Conditioning Programs (CASCE, pronounced kass-key) announced the first programs to complete its rigorous peer-review process, demonstrating their commitment to exceptional program quality. Now, CASCE proudly showcases six more programs to achieve accreditation, which signifies the utmost level of acknowledgment given to a strength and conditioning program:

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
Chadron State College
University of Wisconsin Oshkosh

UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE PROGRAMS
University of North Carolina at Charlotte
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

Achieving CASCE accreditation represents a program’s ability to provide top-tier strength and conditioning education that adequately prepares each student to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) and a safe and effective leader in the field.

“Each of these programs has demonstrated diligence, professionalism, and a commitment to the highest standard of excellence for its students, faculty, and the athletes they serve,” shares CASCE Vice-Chair Colin Wilborn, PhD, CSCS,*D, NSCA-CPT,*D, FNSCA. “Their efforts and achievements demonstrate leadership in building an even stronger strength and conditioning profession.”

Moreover, CASCE accreditation represents a greater initiative by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) to elevate and advance the strength and conditioning profession. As the accrediting agency, CASCE is responsible for developing and maintaining a quality assurance process that ensures all future professionals are capable and well-prepared to enter the strength and conditioning profession. This accreditation process establishes a qualified workforce with the professional knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to meet industry standards, keep athletes safe, and attain success.

Starting in 2030, only candidates with a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a strength and conditioning-related field from CASCE-accredited programs will be eligible to sit for the Certified CSCS exam. Anyone holding or earning a CSCS credential before December 31, 2029, will not be affected by the new requirement.

CASCE accreditation is a non-governmental peer-review process that allows institutions to be evaluated by other professionals working in the industry who understand the needs and demands from a shared perspective. Programs must demonstrate compliance with the CASCE Professional Standards and Guidelines and use these standards as a resource for ongoing program improvement, growth, and achievement.

The CASCE accreditation process takes place over a two-year period, with application submissions accepted annually from October 1 through December 1. Find more information on CASCE accreditation—including its importance, process, resources, and application process—at NSCA.com/CASCE.
