8:00 AM - 8:55 AM Using a Multidisciplinary Approach to Build Strength and Injury Resiliency for High School Football Programs by Aaron Lundgaard, DC, CSCS This presentation is for those who are or would like to work and develop year long training programs for high school sports teams, with an emphasis on football athletes. We will discuss the programming from initial concepts and goals, integration of the coaches and healthcare providers into the design, why and how to incorporate injury resiliency into the programming. |
9:00 AM - 9:55 AM Addressing the Human First: A Client-Centric Training Approach by Emily Elliott, MS, CSCS The human experience is inherently dynamic, and should be considered when programming and training clients. You may be able to create the "most scientifically effective" workout plan, but if you are unable to modify & adapt that to how an individual shows up on any given day, the client will not be able to adhere or have success long term. Relationships and retention can also be compromised if the client feels you are too rigid to take their situational needs into consideration. I aim to discuss strategies for keeping programming efficacious for the goals at hand, while considering the human performing the training first & foremost. |
10:00 AM - 10:55 AM Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDS): Relevance and Application of the Strength and Conditioning Professional by Veronica Prieur, DPT, PT, CSCS and Kristen Schuyten, DPT, PT, CSCS This presentation will discuss new developments, such as nutrition and exercise recommendations, the physiological and performance models of REDs, all of which are applicable to the strength and conditioning specialist. Furthermore, information will be provided in the procedures and referral process for those athletes that may be affected. The strength and conditioning specialist can help guide and educate the training team, as they have a unique and important role communicating with the parents, coaches, rehabilitation and the athletes themselves. |

2:00 PM - 2:55 PM Using Technology to Drive Performance by Michael Silvestri, MSc As technology becomes more prevalent in strength and conditioning, it is important for the professionals in this industry to understand how technology can be used to drive our decision making. Many variables can be measured with technology, but the idea becomes what is the staff using these variables to measure and how will these variables dictate the next steps in our training processes. Understanding how to bridge the gap between what data is collected, and how we use this data is the most important aspect for strength and conditioning professionals to understand and become comfortable with |
