Peer reviewers are appointed for a three-year period and evaluated annually.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to be impartial, objective and fair
- Ability to review, evaluate, and document evidence of a program’s fulfillment of requirements
- Possess strong writing, communication, and analytical skills
- Attend the virtual peer reviewer training
- Distinct time commitment for service
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with accreditation (regional, national, or specialized/professional)
- Active CSCS certification
- Experience in higher education
- Previous experience as a site visitor/peer reviewer
- Involvement with NSCA Education Recognition Program (ERP)
Availability:
Selected peer reviewers must be available to:
- Complete virtual peer reviewer training
- Complete assigned program review(s) starting with the self-study review, followed by a site visit during January – March and finally, completing a site visit report
- Peer reviewers will be expected to sign a conflict-of-interest form and cannot serve as a peer reviewer for any program they have consulted for, or been employed by, or from which they are a graduate
Responsibilities:
- Assure quality by evaluating a program’s compliance with the CASCE Professional Standards and Guidelines
- Support program improvement by providing advice and guidance to academic programs
- Exemplify professionalism, objectivity, and fair judgment
- Complete virtual Peer Reviewer training
- Complete an assigned program review consisting of the following:
- Review of the assigned program’s self-study
- Conduct a 1½ to 2-day site visit between January-March if assigned a Lead or Second role
- Complete a Site Visit Report
Time Commitment:
- At least one program evaluation per year
- Peer Reviewer roles can require a significant amount of time commitment
