William J. Kraemer, PhD, is recognized internationally for his extensive contributions to the science and practice of strength and conditioning. A past President of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), he has authored over 530 peer-reviewed publications, advancing understanding in resistance training physiology, exercise endocrinology, and athlete development across the lifespan. His leadership and scholarship have influenced evidence-based training, recovery, and injury-prevention strategies for athletes from youth to elite professionals across sport, military, and clinical settings. In 2024, Dr. Kraemer received the NSCAs Alvin Roy Award for Career Achievement, adding to a distinguished record that includes the NSCA Lifetime Achievement Award (1994) and the William J. Kraemer Outstanding Sport Scientist Award, renamed in his honor in 2006. He has also earned multiple NSCA honors, including the Outstanding Sport Scientist and Educator of the Year Awards, and served for 30 years as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, guiding the publication of studies that have shaped the profession. He is a professor emeritus at the University of Connecticut and The Ohio State University, where he still acts as the Senior Advisor for Sports Performance and Sports Sciences for the Athletic Department.
