In 1998, Jon Torine became the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Indianapolis Colts and was the youngest to have served in this role in the National Football League (NFL) at the time. His career in Indianapolis spanned 14 seasons where he had the privilege of working with some of the best athletes, coaches, doctors, and management in the world. He was able to institute strategies for players to excel that combined all facets of human performance including movement, power, nutrition, and recovery just to name a few. After spending 17 years in the NFL as a strength and conditioning coach (prior to his elevation in Indianapolis he served as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Buffalo Bills for three seasons), culminating with a World Championship in Super Bowl XLI, Torine joined Functional Movement Systems as the Human Performance Director. In this role, Torine oversees an integrated and unique partnership of management, assessment, strategizing, and training of athletes, competitors, active people, coaches, and sports medicine professionals. Torine appeared in Tony Dungys movie titled The Red Zone, a nationwide program geared towards high school athletes. He is a Strength and Conditioning Expert Advisor for USA Football, a consultant on the Nike Sparq Performance Network, and appears on the Perform Better Lecture circuit. Torine has lectured for the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and was been heavily influenced by Dr. William Kraemer throughout his career. Torine also serves as an Instructor and Lecturer for Functional Movement Systems where he co-developed a software system aimed at improving movement.
The NSCA is a recognized 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit dedicated to advancing strength and conditioning research and education for all people.
