The NSCA Foundation is introducing a student member position to the Grant Committee to foster inclusivity and ensure the perspectives of emerging professionals are represented throughout the selection process. By engaging student voices, we aim to better understand their unique needs and aspirations, ultimately strengthening the relevance and impact of our grant programs. This initiative underscores our commitment to empowering the next generation of strength and conditioning leaders and advancing the field through thoughtful collaboration and support.

Student Volunteer Position Description: Grant Committee
Position Title: Student Committee Member
Position Type: Volunteer

Position Overview: The Student Committee Member is an integral part of the National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation Grant Committee. This position offers students an opportunity to gain valuable insights into scholarship administration, and committee operations while contributing their unique perspectives to enhance the committee's initiatives.

Term Duration: One-year appointment from July 15 to July 14, serving as a representative of the student community and bringing forward student perspectives and concerns.

Student Member Role/Responsibilities:

  • Gather feedback via surveys and report to the committee on the needs of the student
  • Host bi-annual student virtual roundtable/Information session
  • Review the application and make suggestions from a student perspective
  • Review the grading rubric and make suggestions from a student perspective
  • Review policies and make suggestions from a student perspective
  • Participate in Committee meetings
  • Grant Committee Student Member: Co-Presenter of the Data Blitz at National Conference and Co-Presenter at Foundation 101 session (if in attendance)
  • Provide a 1-page end-of-term report on their experience and suggestions for improvement in the position for future Student Members
  • Term: 7/15/2026-7/15/2027 (1-year)

  • Estimated time commitment: 10–15 hours per year.

Qualifications:

  • Must be an NSCA Member
  • Currently enrolled as a student with an interest in strength and conditioning coaching or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present student perspectives effectively.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for learning, contributing, and being part of a professional committee.
  • Willingness to commit time and effort to the committee's activities and discussions.

Applications are reviewed by the committee, and successful candidates will be notified.

*Individuals serving in this position are not eligible to apply for an NSCA Foundation Grant due to a conflict of interest.
